Obituary of Myrtle Louise Nelson

Myrtle “Molly” L. Malone Nelson, age 87, of Erie, PA went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at St. Vincent Hospital following a brief illness. She was born on June 21, 1928 in Mt. Jewett, PA to the late William W. and Gladys McCandless Malone. Molly graduated from Mt. Jewett H.S. and then Hamot School of Nursing in 1949. She was a very caring and dedicated registered nurse at Erie Infants Home and Hospital for 25 years until her retirement in 1990. Molly was a lifelong member of Grace Baptist Church where she had served with her gifts for many years. She married Ernie Nelson in 1952 and recently celebrated 63 years of marriage. She loved spending time with her friends, family, three children, seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren and will always be remembered as a kind, loving, generous, and sweet person who always saw the best in every person and situation. In addition to her parents, Molly was preceded in death by her brothers Paul and William Malone and her sister Donna Jean Malone. She is survived by her husband Ernie Nelson, two sons, Doug Nelson (Sandy) and Dale Nelson (Lynne). One daughter Dolores Ray (Dave), seven grandchildren: Rachel Johnson, Gregory Rubino, Adam Nelson (Jessie), Aaron Nelson, Brad Nelson (Lanette), Brian Nelson (Beth), Brandon Nelson (Chelsea) and three great-grandchildren; River, Kaylee, and Skyler. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Tuesday, July 21 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. and may attend a viewing on Wednesday, July 22 at Grace Church, 7300 Grubb Rd. at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Service there at 11:00 a.m. conducted by the Rev. Derek Sanford and the Rev. Richard Page. Interment will be private at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Erie City Mission, PO Box 407, Erie, PA 16512.
